Tool 01 — Reverse Converter

Percentage to CGPA Calculator

Need to convert a percentage back into CGPA? This tool reverses the standard conversion formula — so if a job application or foreign university is asking for your GPA after you only have a percentage certificate, you're covered.

Simply enter your percentage and choose your university — the calculator applies the exact inverse formula used by your institution.

Standard Reverse Formula (CBSE) CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5

Example: 80% ÷ 9.5 = 8.42 CGPA

Reverse formulas by university

  • CBSE / Standard: CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5
  • VTU: CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.75
  • Anna University: CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.5
  • Mumbai University: CGPA = (Percentage − 11) ÷ 7.1
  • GTU / KTU: CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.5
  • SPPU / MAKAUT / BPUT: CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.75

Results are capped at your scale's maximum (10, 5, or 4) and always shown to 2 decimal places.

Tool 02 — Cumulative Average

SGPA to CGPA Calculator

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is your GPA for one semester. CGPA is the cumulative version — a weighted average of all your semester SGPAs, factoring in the total credits for each semester.

Add each semester's SGPA and its total credits below. The calculator gives you your exact CGPA, which is what appears on your final degree certificate.

CGPA Formula CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Credits) ÷ Σ Credits

Each semester is weighted by how many credits it carries, not just averaged equally.

Why credits matter

A semester with 24 credits has more weight than one with 18. If you score 8.5 in a heavy-credit semester and 7.0 in a light one, your CGPA will be closer to 8.5 — not the simple average of 7.75.

This is why students sometimes find their CGPA is higher or lower than they expected from a simple semester average.

Add one row per semester. Enter your SGPA and total credits for that semester.

Tool 03 — Semester Converter

SGPA to Percentage Calculator

Your SGPA is your GPA for a single semester. Converting it to percentage works exactly the same way as converting your overall CGPA — just enter your semester GPA and your university below.

This is useful when internships, job portals, or exchange programs ask for a semester-by-semester percentage breakdown instead of your overall CGPA.

SGPA to % (CBSE/Standard) Percentage = SGPA × 9.5

The same formula as CGPA to %, since SGPA is simply a single-semester CGPA.

SGPA vs CGPA — what's the difference?

  • SGPA — Grade point average for one specific semester. Resets each term.
  • CGPA — Cumulative average of all semesters combined. This is your final degree grade.
  • Both convert to percentage using the same university formula.
  • Your CGPA may differ from your SGPA if you had stronger or weaker semesters.

Tool 04 — From Scratch

GPA Calculator — from subjects & grades

Haven't received your official SGPA yet? Calculate it yourself from your subject-level grades and credit values. Enter each subject, select your grade, and input the credit hours.

This tool uses the standard 10-point grading scale used by most Indian universities (CBSE, VTU, Anna University, etc.).

GPA Formula GPA = Σ(Grade Point × Credits) ÷ Σ Credits

Tool 05 — Raw Marks

Marks Percentage Calculator

Got your raw marks for each subject? This calculator finds your overall percentage across all subjects — whether they have equal or different maximum marks. Add as many subjects as you like.

Use this before exam results are processed into grades, or whenever a form asks for your "aggregate percentage" from raw marksheets.

Percentage Formula % = (Total Obtained ÷ Total Maximum) × 100

All subjects are aggregated into one overall percentage, not averaged subject-by-subject.

Common use cases

  • Calculating aggregate marks for college admissions (NEET, JEE, boards)
  • Finding your semester percentage from internal exam marks
  • Converting marksheets from different subjects with different max marks
  • Checking eligibility criteria for scholarships (e.g. "minimum 60% aggregate")
  • Job applications requiring academic percentage proof

Tool 06 — Exam Strategy

Final Grade Calculator — what do I need?

You know your current marks and your target grade. But what do you need to score in the final exam to get there? This calculator works backwards to give you your required score — so you know exactly what you're aiming for.

Whether you want Distinction, First Class, or just need to pass — enter your current standing and let the tool tell you what's achievable.

Required Score Formula Required = (Target − Current × w₁) ÷ w₂

Where w₁ = internal weight, w₂ = final exam weight (both as decimals)

How to read your result

  • Green (Achievable): Your target is reachable with the required score.
  • Yellow (Challenging): You need above 90% in the final — possible but demanding.
  • Red (Not achievable): Even a perfect final exam won't hit your target — consider adjusting the goal.

Typical university weighting: 30% internal + 70% external. Always check your university's scheme.

About These Tools

Free grade calculator tools for every Indian student

Whether you're a first-year engineering student trying to understand your SGPA, a final-year student converting your CGPA for a job application, or a postgraduate preparing documents for a US university — this toolkit covers every calculation you'll need.

How accurate are these calculators?

Each calculator uses the officially published formula from the relevant university or board. For CBSE and most state boards, that's the well-established CGPA × 9.5 formula. For VTU, Anna University, Mumbai, GTU, SPPU, MAKAUT, KTU, AKTU, and BPUT, we use each institution's specific published conversion. Results are rounded to two decimal places and capped at logical maximums.

For formal submissions (job applications, university admissions, visa documents) always cross-reference with your official transcript or registrar — our tools are optimized for self-reference and academic planning.

Which tool should I use?

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert SGPA to CGPA?
CGPA is the weighted average of all your semester SGPAs. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × Credits₁ + SGPA₂ × Credits₂ + …) ÷ Total Credits. Use the SGPA to CGPA tool above to enter each semester's data and get your result instantly.
Is SGPA the same as GPA?
Yes. SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) and GPA (Grade Point Average) refer to the same metric — your grade point average for a single semester or term. Different universities use different terminology. CGPA is the cumulative version across all completed semesters.
How is GPA calculated from subject marks?
First, convert each subject's marks to a grade point (e.g., 85 marks = A+ = 9 points on a 10-scale). Then multiply each grade point by the subject's credit value. Sum all these weighted points and divide by the total credits. Our GPA Calculator does this automatically once you enter your grades and credits.
What percentage is required for First Class?
In most Indian universities, First Class is awarded for an aggregate percentage of 60% or above. Distinction typically requires 75% or above. Second Class covers 50–59%, and Pass covers 40–49%. These thresholds may vary slightly by university, so always confirm with your institution's academic handbook.
How do I calculate my marks percentage for multiple subjects?
Add up all the marks you obtained across every subject, then divide by the sum of all maximum marks, and multiply by 100. For example: if you scored 350 out of 500 total marks across five subjects, your percentage is (350 ÷ 500) × 100 = 70%. The Marks % Calculator above handles this automatically for any number of subjects.
What score do I need in my final exam to pass?
This depends on your current internal marks, their weightage, and your target grade. Use the Final Grade Calculator above: enter your current marks percentage, the internal weightage (commonly 30%), your target (e.g. Pass = 40%), and your final exam's maximum marks. The tool will tell you the exact score required and whether it's achievable.
